Oaklands Mansion Summer Party draws hundreds for sold-out event

Hundreds gathered Saturday night on the grounds of Oaklands Mansion historic site for the sold-out Summer Party.

Guests enjoyed Southern fare from Uncle Bud's and signature cocktails from Prichards Distillery. Quarterlife provided live music.

Proceeds from the event help preserve the historic Oaklands site, located at 900 N. Maney Ave. Visit oaklandsmansion.org for more details.

Oaklands has also partnered with the African American Heritage Society of Rutherford County to erect a monument to the enslaved at section “M” of Evergreen Cemetery. Originally called Oaklands Cemetery, oral tradition indicates that this is the burial ground of the enslaved workers of the former plantation.
