Oakley and James rise in popularity for newborns in Utah County

UTAH COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — Six new names broke into the Top 10 names for newborn boys and girls in Utah County in 2023, according to Utah Valley Pediatrics.

UVP released its data for the most popular baby names throughout Utah County over the last year and while there are some familiar names from 2022, there are some newcomers.

5. Charlotte

6. Adaline

7. Lucy

8. Emma

9. Nora

10. Ellie

According to UVP, Oakley, Adaline, Nora, and Ellie are newcomers into the Top 10, rising in popularity among newborns. Ivy was the most popular name for girls in 2023, a carryover in the Top 10 from 2022.

Other rising-in-popularity names last year were Sophie, Elsie, Grace and Hannah. UVP said the four names were new to the Top 20 most popular baby names in Utah County last year.

The Top 10 popular boys’ names remained largely the same from 2022 to 2023. UVP said the only newcomers to break into the Top 10 were James and Charlie. Oliver, which was one of the more popular names in Utah County in 2022, was still just as popular in 2023.

The names Luka, Leo, Samuel and Thomas also rose in popularity for newborn boys in Utah County. The four names were absent in the Top 20 in 2022, but rose in popularity over 2023.
