For students like Gevenson Ylluste, he reflected on his late friend highlighting his impact.

“He was an inspiration to other young men like how to be a man, how to be a man of character, how to be a man integrity, I think that’s something we’re going to be missing here at Oakwood,” Ylluste told News 19.

Classmates like Ylluste who knew Barracks say the late student is still with them in spirit.

The university concluded the prayer vigil with his favorite song “Hallelujah” which signified his spiritual standing as a man of faith.

“When one of is hit, this whole campus is hit. It [prayer vigil] shows that we are a family, we are united as one during this tragedy,” Ylluste said.
