OBCA names Verdigris senior Bressie to All-State roster; Cardinals earn All-District honors

May 20—The Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association released its 2022 All-State rosters Thursday, and one Rogers County athlete made the cut.

Highlighting the 14-player Middle East roster was Cody Bressie of Verdigris, who is listed as one of three pitchers for the team. The senior went 5-0 on the mound during the regular season, tossing 43 strikeouts with an ERA of .000 while surrendering only four runs (zero earned) and three walks.

Bressie helped the Cardinals to a 30-5 record this season, including district and regional titles.

He will be coached by the duo of Fort Gibson's Gary Edwards and Darron Henson of Kingston.

CARDINALS NAMED TO 4A-5 ALL-DISTRICT TEAM

After yet another season with district and regional titles and a 12th-consecutive state tournament appearance, Verdigris baseball earned several 4A-5 All-District honors.

Bressie was named the Pitcher of the Year while junior Jax Ryan and senior Logan Hall were given Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year distinctions, respectively.

Elsewhere, senior Evan Anderson (catcher), junior Reese Roller (third base), junior Luke Zaferes (outfield), senior Odin McConnell (utility) and senior Ty Gladu (utility) were also named to the All-District team at their respective positions while Brian Keith was tabbed the Coach of the Year.

Catoosa's Lane Carnley, a junior pitcher, snagged a spot on the team as well.
