Obituary: Christopher T. Batten Sr., 68, of Shelton

SHELTON, CT - (From Adzima Funeral Home) Christopher T. Batten Sr., age 68, of Shelton, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, January 25, 2021.

He is the beloved husband of Betty Warner Batten.

Chris was born in Bridgeport on January 8, 1953, son of the late Ernest and Mary Shambo Batten. He is the devoted father of Christopher and Brian and his wife, Mary.

He leaves behind his cherished grandsons Nicholas and Hunter. Chris is also survived by his brothers Richard (Mary) Batten and John (Linda) Batten, and sisters-in-law Virginia (Jack) Goodfellow and Sandra (Donald) Rost, along with many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.

Chris loved spending time with his family, as well as traveling, fishing, golfing, and vacationing on Lake Champlain.

A Connecticut State police trooper for 20 years, Chris was a patrol officer at Troop G in Westport and then joined the Major Crime Squad and Auto Theft Unit.

Upon retiring from the state police, he was an investigator for the National Insurance Crime Bureau, USF+G Insurance Company, and The Hartford Insurance Company.

He received many commendations, awards, and recognitions throughout his career.

The Batten family extends its heartfelt thanks to Dr. Nicholas Blondin; the staff at Yale Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center, especially Jessica Stein; and all his health care workers.

Due to COVID, all services will be private.

The Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford has been entrusted with the arrangements.
