Obituary: Richard Joseph Artymowski, 82, of Stratford

STRATFORD, CT - (From Pistey Funeral Home) Richard Joseph Artymowski, age 82, of Stratford, passed away on February 10, 2022 at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by his family.

Richard was born on July 30,1939 in Bridgeport to Joseph Artymowski and Alice Szafranski, both of whom preceded him in death.

He graduated Stratford High School in 1957 and later became a proud member of the U.S Navy Seabees. Upon returning to Stratford, Richard became a carpenter. Later he would meet and marry the beautiful love of his life, Rose Martire Artymowski.

Together the two started, owned and operated the Donut Inn in Huntington Center where they made many friends.

Richard was an avid golfer and a lover of all things Disney.

He was also a dedicated father to his three daughters and the doting grandfather of nine.

Richard had a passion for traveling, a passion he shared with his family as often as he could. But his greatest joy in life was being surrounded by the people he loved.

He was an active member of Saint James Church and loved the Lord.

Richard will be best remembered for his selflessness, his wonderful sense of humor and his positive attitude towards everything in life.He is survived by his loving wife, Rose Martire Artymowski, his three adoring daughters, Michele Weinbaum, Jacqueline Lupone, Jill Tanner and their husbands Thomas Weinbaum, Thomas Lupone and William Tanner.

He is also survived by his nine dedicated grandchildren, Mitchell Weinbaum, Alexa Weinbaum, Amanda Weinbaum, Marisa Weinbaum, Nicholas Lupone, Sophia Lupone, Christopher Lupone, William Tanner, Hayden Tanner and his treasured brother Robert Artymowski.

Aside from his children and grandchildren, Richard’s memory is carried on by his many beloved brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and cherished nieces and nephews. Richard will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Friends may call on Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford. Visitors must follow Covid protocol.

Masks are required. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. James Church followed by interment with military honors at Nichols Farm Cemetery.
