OCAAT: Congrats Joanne Wilson and Johnson Elementary

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) – This week’s One Class At A Time winner is a dedicated and giving teacher who makes her class feel as if they are in a safe and loving environment.

Joanne Wilson is a kindergarten teacher with Johnson Elementary School. Her nominator said that “she’s an amazing teacher dedicated to her profession. She develops lesson plans to meet each students’ learning style and she never gives up on them.”

Wilson’s plans to use the money on specific supplies her students need to be successful in school.

“It means a lot. It just validates what we’re doing here, that we’re here for these kids. And if we can give extra stuff to the kids, it makes it all better. I love children and I love to see their learning and their growth,” Wilson said.

“It’s just amazing when you see that. When I get these kindergartners and they can’t read and then they leave me reading and writing, it’s just a great feeling.”
