Ocala courthouse: Bond revoked for man accused of soliciting kids online for sex

Prosecutors filed charges against several people the week of Oct. 23, while in another case a judge revoked a man's bond. Here's what we know:

State v. Chad Eric Giffin

Judge: Circuit Judge Lisa Herndon.

What happened: The judge revoked Giffin's bond when the 47-year-old man failed to show up for his pre-trial hearing on Oct. 23. The Ocala man is presently at the county jail and held without bail.

Defense lawyer: Julia Williamson from the Public Defender's Office.

Next court hearing: 9 a.m. on Nov. 28.

Charges: Five counts of transmission of harmful material to minor and one count each of unlawful use of two-way communications device to facilitate, use computer to seduce/solicit/lure child, and travel to meet a minor after use of computer to lure child.

About the case: Earlier this year, Giffin and a group of men were taken into custody in an undercover operation where law enforcements pretended to be children on the internet and they were seduced by adults looking for sex.

Arraignments

On Oct. 24, prosecutors announced they have filed charges against the following people: Luis Alexander Figueroa Tirado, 20, and his alleged 17-year-old accomplice, both of Ocala; Danielle Jane Liles, 41, of Summerfield; and Scott Michael Peltier, 59, homeless.

Charges: Tirado and the 17-year-old are charged with first-degree murder with a firearm. Liles is charged with organized fraud $50,000 or more. Peltier is charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer with deadly weapon, resisting an officer with violence, and armed trespass on property.

Lawyers: The teen is represented by the Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel; Tirado's lawyer is David Bradley Duclos of the Public Defender's Office; Liles' attorney is Andrew Pozzuto of Alavi & Pozzuto; and Michael Novak of the Public Defender's Office represents Peltier, according to court records.

About the cases: Tirado and the teen were indicted by a grand jury last month in the shooting death of Tylique Le'John Christie, 18, of Ocala, in June.

Liles is accused of stealing more than $750,000 from an alternative school in May.

Peltier was arrested last month after deputies said he pointed a gun at law enforcement officials. He was shot by the deputies and taken to a local hospital.
