Ocasio-Cortez calls out Fox News over lack of coverage of Boebert ‘Beetlejuice’ scandal

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is calling out Fox News over what she described as unequal news coverage, saying the network essentially ignored the recent public behavior scandal of GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert.

Ocasio-Cortez was asked by a follower to share her thoughts on the controversy after the Colorado lawmaker was escorted out of a theater in Denver for “causing a disturbance,” vaping and singing along during a live performance of “Beetlejuice.” A separate video emerged last Friday that also showed Boebert touching her date inappropriately in the theater.

“All I gotta say is I can’t go out to lunch in Florida in my free time, not doing anything, just eating outside and it’s wall-to-wall Fox News coverage,” Ocasio-Cortez said on Instagram in a video later reuploaded to TikTok. “And then you have a member of Congress engaging in sexually lewd acts in a public theater and they got nothing to say.”

The New York congresswoman said she doesn’t expect to receive equal treatment from Fox News, but that it would be nice.

The day before Ocasio-Cortez was sworn in, a video she had made in college dancing with friends resurfaced online, generating a buzz.

“I danced to Phoenix once in college and it was like all over the place. But them putting on a whole show of their own at ‘Beetlejuice’ … and there’s nothin’?” she said in her recent video. “I’m just saying be consistent.”

Boebert’s 2024 Democratic challenger has also called out her behavior, calling it “just another notch in the belt of embarrassment.”
