Occupier who fled from Izium complains that he was not allowed back in Russia until he agreed to fight again

A Russian conscript told the media that after he escaped from Izium [the recently liberated city in Kharkiv Oblast – ed.], he was not allowed to get back to Russia. Moreover, he is going to be sent to war again.

He was going to terminate his contract with the Russian army, but failed to do so because Russian President Vladimir Putin had announced conscription.

When the invader, who served as a sapper, signed a contract, they promised him that he would only defend the occupied territories.

However, in early September, when the Ukrainian army’s counteroffensive started, he escaped from Izium and wandered around the woods in Kharkiv Oblast for a week.

His commander ordered all of his soldiers to go back to the front, and border guards refused to let them back to Belgorod Oblast, [which borders Ukraine’s Kharkiv Oblast].

As the occupier said, they did not allow him and his fellow soldiers to enter the Russian territory for approximately a week, until they all agreed to keep fighting in Ukraine. Soldiers had been living in tents, and border guards brought them food.

After conscription was announced, soldiers were banned from resigning. On 25 September, the occupier was sent back to Ukraine.
