Russian Avdiyivka blitz flops big time: Epic fail in epic battle

The blitzkrieg that the Russian Armed Forces had hoped for in the planned encirclement of Avdiyivka in Donetsk Oblast has completely failed.

This is evident from both Ukrainian military reports and videos depicting the aftermath of their unsuccessful attempt to storm the city from multiple directions. These can be seen on social media, as well as in confessions from the Russians themselves.

The colossal losses suffered by the adversary are evident in the invaders’ reports of a significant number of wounded in hospitals temporarily under the Russian control in Donetsk.

Earlier, Kremlin propagandists confidently reported important tactical “successes” they claimed to have achieved near Avdiyivka, including the “capture” of a railway and a strategically important hill. However, the reality did not live up to their expectations.

In the first few days, the Russians lost approximately 30 units of various armored vehicles in the Avdiyivka area, according to open-source information.

As for the results they managed to achieve, the U.S.-based think tank Institute for the Study of War (ISW) assesses that the Russian Armed Forces, in their massive attack, were able to capture only about 4.52 square kilometers of territory from various directions around Avdiyivka, without getting close to the city itself or the supply route, not to mention any kind of “cauldron.”
