In particular, residents of some Russian-controlled settlements in Zaporizhzhya and Kherson oblasts demonstratively disregard the orders of the occupying administrations and express distrust of Russian propaganda, she said.

“True information about the situation at the front and the pernicious consequences of the Russian occupation is increasingly spreading among citizens, and the number of pro-Ukrainian population is growing,” Maliar said.

At the same time, the Russian military command continues to use harsh mass punitive actions to counteract the resistance of local residents.

Malyar cited the village of Kyrylivka in Zaporizhzhya Oblast, which has been surrounded by Russian troops for several days. This was done to filter the local population, with searches being carried out at infrastructure facilities and residents’ homes.

“Citizens which Russian FSB agents had collected information (denunciations) regarding the support of pro-Ukrainian authorities were subject to a particularly thorough check,” Malyar said.

The Russians immediately detained these people and took them away for interrogation, after which some of the detainees never returned. Their fate is still unknown, Maliar noted.

The Russians continue to carry out “filtration measures” and repress the local population during the occupation of Ukrainian territories.

Ukraine’s National Resistance Center reported on June 4 that the Russian invaders resorted to blackmailing people with diabetes in the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhya Oblast by denying them insulin if they do not have a Russian passport.

The Russians also order taxi drivers to denounce people with pro-Ukrainian views in the occupied territories of Zaporizhzhya Oblast.
