Referendums

Three area school districts had referendum questions throughout Fond du Lac County ballots for North Fond du Lac, Ripon and Waupun-area schools.

North Fond du Lac posed two questions: one asking to exceed the state's revenue limit for the next few school years by $800,000 per year in the face of a budget shortfall, and one asking for $18.5 million to expand Bessie Allen Middle School and Horace Mann High School.

Voters approved both referendum questions, according to Tuesday's unofficial results.

Ripon School District asked to exceed the revenue limit by $850,000 per year for the next six years to sustain general operations. The referendum passed with 2,472 votes in favor and 1,642 votes opposed.

The Waupun Area School District asked to exceed the revenue limit by $980,000 per year for three years. The referendum passed with 1,572 votes in favor and 1,285 votes opposed.

In addition to the school districts, Moraine Park Technical College asked permission to borrow $55 million for four projects. Two projects would add classrooms and specialized labs, including manufacturing and robotics labs, at the Fond du Lac and West Bend campuses.

The two other projects include a new fire training facility in an undetermined location and a Health & Human Services Facility for Fond du Lac with spaces that simulate real-world clinics and labs.

Fond du Lac County voters were in favor of the referendum with 27,607 votes, though 16,837 voters were opposed.
