With fall in full swing, Portage County has a plethora of events to celebrate the season.

From fall festivals and Halloween parties to trunk-or-treat and trick-or-treat, here are events communities across the county have planned for this month.

Derthick's Corn Maze

Derthick's Corn Maze, 5182 Twinsburg Warren Road (state Route 82) in Mantua Township, is open from 6-11 p.m. on Fridays, 1-11 p.m. on Saturdays, and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays through Oct. 29.

There are four mazes — two small, one medium and one large — with a total of 7 miles of paths over 17 acres. There are also maze games, including a mystery game that involves searching for clues.

Other activities include a jump pad, safe archery, air cannons, a bouncing cow train, family trike riding, big slides, a combine climber, sand piles, a round bale play area, human Foosball, hamster wheels, duck races, and a zip line.

Costs include $13 for ages 3 to 64, $8 for 65 and older, and $45 for season passes. Kids under 3 are free. Added costs include $5 for one time on the zip line and $9 for two (parents must sign a waiver for riders under 18). Hay rides cost $3.

Dussel Farm Pumpkin Festival

Dussel Farm Pumpkin Festival, 1109 Old Forge Road in Brimfield, runs every day 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. through the end of October.

The public is invited to stop by, take photos, walk the corn maze or tent maze for younger children, and hang out with the three witches of “Macbeth."

On weekends, there will also be face painting, a craft barn and treats, including caramel apples, hot or cold apple cider, fresh kettle corn, pumpkin cappuccinos and nachos and cheese.

Thousand of pumpkins of different sizes are on display and available for cooking or carving. Also available are corn, soybeans, gourds and squash, as well as fall décor items like mums, straw bales, corn stalks and Indian corn.

Mantua Autumn Festival

Mantua Autumn Festival will be at Mantua Historic Center School, 11741 Mantua Center Rd. in Mantua Township, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 4.

The event includes DJ Lily Jade, face painting, touch-a-truck, Prize Cave, food trucks and more. Canned food donations accepted for the 4C's Food Pantry in Mantua, with a chance to win in a raffle. Sponsored by New Adventures Early Learning & Child Development Center Mantua, Darko Inc., Wild Republic, 4C's, and the Boy Scouts.

Trunk-or-treats and other Halloween parties

  • Paris Township trunk-or-treat will be at the fire station, 9355 Newton Falls Road, from noon to 2 p.m. on Oct. 28. Food and drinks will be provided, and costumes are encouraged. Attendees wishing to hand out candy are welcome. Key Realty will be on hand offering an opportunity to have pictures taken with Sasquatch. Cost is a suggested of donation of $5 per photo to be donated to the Paris Township Fire Department.

  • The Ravenna Area Chamber of Commerce Halloween Walk will take place from noon to 3 p.m. on Oct. 28. The event includes a costume contest at the Portage County Courthouse at 203 W. Main St. beginning at 12:30 p.m., along with merchant trick-or-treat (participating merchants will be marked with balloons), a haunted house at Main Street Winery — 234 West Main St. — and food from local eateries.

  • The Rootstown Haunted Trail trunk-or-treat will be at Gracie Field, 3540 Cook Road, from noon to 3 p.m. on Oct. 28, rain or shine. The event includes costume contests, photo booths, the Wiener Guy hot dogs, a pet parade, Ms. Wheelchair USA, a huge basket auction, the Thriller dance and special guests. This year, bird of prey conservation organization Raptor Hollow Sanctuary will also be participating.

  • Boo at the Barn will be at Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary, 5623 New Milford Road in Ravenna Township, from 2-4 p.m. Oct. 28. This event is family-friendly and will include trick-or-treating with the animals, pumpkin decorating, hayrides, games, a bake sale, and more. Family-friendly costumes and close-toed shoes are requested. Cost is $10 per person and free for children under 2. Go to tinyurl.com/bdece3u9 to purchase tickets.

  • Students at Northeast Ohio Medical University will host a Trunk-or-Treat from 3-5 p.m. Oct. 28 in the NEOMED visitor parking lot, 4209 state Route 44 in Rootstown. Students will be passing out candy from their Halloween-themed decorated cars to children in 12th grade and under. The event is sponsored by the NEOMED Student Council and Office of Student Services. This event is free and open to the public. No registration is needed. For questions, call 330-325-6735.

  • The Portage County Sheriff's Office is hosting its second-annual trunk-or-treat at the Randolph Fairgrounds, 4215 Fairgrounds Road, from 4-7 p.m. on Oct. 28. Those interested in being a trunk vendor can go to portagesheriff.com/trunk-or-treat for a registration form or pick one up at the sheriff's office, 8240 Infirmary Road, Ravenna. Prizes will be given for best decorations.

  • OUR Place (Open United Recovery) of Ravenna is presenting Spooky Soberoke at Lake Brady United Methodist Church, 1995 Brady Lake Road in Franklin Township, starting at 6 p.m. Oct. 28. The free event includes sober karaoke, a costume contest and dinner. Kids are welcome.

  • Edinburg Township trunk-or-treat will be at Edinburg Township Park, 4326 Rocksprings Road, just north of Interstate 76, from 1-3 p.m. Oct. 29. Vehicles need to be set up by 12:30 p.m. There will be a gift basket raffle with tickets available at the event. Free hayrides, hot dogs, chips and hot chocolate will be available. There will be a costume contest for children from infants through 14 years of age, as well as one for the best-dressed pet.

  • Ravenna Township trunk-or-treat will be at 6145 S. Spring St. from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 30. The event includes candy, hot dogs, hamburgers and fun.

  • Palmyra Township trunk-or-treat will take place at Palmyra Park, 3901 state Route 225, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 29. Call 330-654-4098 ext. 214 to reserve a car spot.

  • The Mantua Village Police Department's second annual Halloween Bash will be in the police department's front parking lot, 4650 W. High St., from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 31. The event includes treats, drinks, games and an opportunity to meet K-9 Ciko.
