October's Most Expensive: Total of $15.925 million spent on Brevard's top five homes

The hike in inflation rates and the cooling of the traditional housing market are not hurting luxury homes sales on the Space Coast.

The top five most expensive homes sold in Brevard in October drive home that point.

5. $1.8 Million – Cocoa Beach riverfront

This home at 265 Andros Ave., Cocoa Beach, was among the most expensive homes sold in Brevard in October.

With more than 3,200 square feet of living space, this home at 265 Andros Ave. in Cocoa Beach comes in at No. 5 on October’s most expensive list.

The four bedroom, three bath home features an open floor plan with multiple living and dining areas.

Built in 2007, the home was constructed for safety with high impact-rated windows and sliders, a tile roof and concrete block construction.

In the back you’ll find a deep saltwater heated pool which overlooks the Banana River.

4. $1.875 Million – Melbourne Beach waterfront

Sitting on the Indian River Lagoon is this three bedroom, three bath home featuring nearly 2,900 square feet at 2040 S. River Road in Melbourne Beach.

In the backyard, beyond the pool is a covered boat dock with electric lift giving you full access to Brevard’s waterways.

3.  $1.9 Million – Palm Bay perfection

You may remember this in our September listings. The house didn’t actually close until Oct. 6th.

With 420 feet of river frontage, this four bedroom, four bath home at 5141 Dixie Highway N.E. in Palm Bay sits on 1.1 acres directly on the Indian River Lagoon.

You want privacy? How about a gated driveway and 10-foot concrete wall surrounding the property which includes a huge outdoor living area and waterfront pool. The peaceful bliss and relaxation found in this part of the property alone is why the former owners mostly used the home as a high-performing vacation rental.

Inside the home, the West Indies inspiration shines through with exposed trusses. And the high number of windows take full advantage of natural light and incredible views. The kitchen features all new appliances, and “long-last” metal roof was installed in 2022.

2. $4.85 Million – Melbourne Beach oceanfront

In a normal month, this home at 5485 S. State Road A1A could easily have been the most expensive sold.

The oceanfront house features 5,500 square feet with five bedrooms and eight – yes, EIGHT – bathrooms. Safety is a primary feature of the home with hurricane glass and rolldown shutters.

The elevated pool gives you over-the-dune views of the ocean and the convenience of the summer kitchen allows for easy meals without anyone schlepping water throughout the house. The builder made full use of each level featuring a deck or balcony on each, including the rooftop sun deck with hot tub.

Before we talk about anything else, we have to focus on the master bathroom with a massive soaking tub centered between two open rain showers. The size of a bedroom itself, the master bath also features separate vanities for the couple who wants to be together, but not THAT together.

The kitchen is a chef’s dream with a multi-burner high-end gas range and double ovens. There are multiple living spaces throughout the house and it’s clear there was luxury, elegance and a bit of playfulness embedded in the property.

$5.50 Million – The House That Harris Built

It should come as no surprise to anyone reading our real estate stories over the past month or so that the former home of Harris CEO Phillip Farmer and his wife, Jeane, tops our list of most expensive homes sold in October. And at $5.5 million, it is the fourth most expensive home ever sold on the Space Coast.

The iconic home at 3380 N. Riverside Drive in Indialantic features more that 8,600 square feet of living space with five bedrooms and five bathrooms and two halfbaths.

Passing through the wrought iron gates, it’s like you are transported to someplace outside of Brevard County. The French Chateau inspired home sits on the Indian River Lagoon with complete access to the water. The landscaping surrounding the house has been impeccably maintained.

The estate features a five-car garage with seven spaces and room to park the RV. Guests pulling up the driveway will be met with the peaceful sounds of the large courtyard fountain.

In the back, a statue of Poseidon guards the railing overlooking the Indian River Lagoon. The pool and hot tub also afford fantastic water views.

The inside is a work of art. From the grand doorway leading into the foyer to the staircase leading to the upper floors, and the tastefully appointed office and the luxurious kitchen, no expense was spared in creating the oasis on the Space Coast. In fact, you might find yourself hard-pressed to actually cook in the kitchen as you may worry you’d dirty up the masterpiece.

And if a picture is worth a thousand words, then Jennifer Schumacher of Pink Flamingo Photography has captured an epic tale with her work in this house.

Listing agent is Stephanie Dandridge of One Sotheby's International.
