Background:

  • Russian forces attacked Ukraine’s southern oblasts with four different types of missiles on the night of 5-6 November, using Oniks, Iskander-M, Kh-31P, and Kh-59 missiles and UAVs.  One of the missiles fell in the centre of Odesa, 50 metres from the National Art Museum, creating a large crater.

  • The blast wave damaged the doors and windows of the museum; its employees were not injured. At the time of the attack, the museum's main collection was hidden. On 7 November, the Museum was going to celebrate its 124th anniversary.
