Odessa couple dies in wreck
May 2—An Odessa couple was killed in a crash on New Mexico State Road 176 near Eunice, N.M. Thursday afternoon.
A New Mexico State Police news release details that Cortney DeWayne Hartman, 43, and Christopher Daniel Barrandey, 52, were stopped for construction in an eastbound lane when a Ford F-350 pulling a flatbed trailer rear-ended the Chevrolet Silverado they were in, pushing it into the back of a Peterbilt tractor-trailer.
The couple was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and the driver of the Ford pickup was taken to a Lubbock hospital with unknown injuries. The driver of the Peterbilt was unhurt.
The crash remains under investigation, but is not believed to be alcohol-related.
