Odessa Permian sweeps Abilene High girls, boys in basketball
ODESSA - Odessa Permian outscored Abilene High every quarter but the last and held on to beat the Lady Eagles 47-40 in a District 2-6A girls basketball game here Tuesday.
Permian had a 12-5 advantage after the first quarter, and the seven-point lead proved to be enough despite a 22-18 rally by AHS in the fourth quarter. Permian led 21-11 at halftime and 29-18 after the third quarter.
Kimora Pierce led the Lady Panthers (5-14 overall, 3-3 district) with a game-high 12 points, while Bailey Wight had seven.
Zikyria Shaw led AHS (5-23, 0-7) with 11 points, and Grace Jordan added 10. Three others followed with four apiece.
Permian swept the district series from AHS. The Lady Panthers beat the Lady Eagles 40-32 on Dec. 14 at Eagle Gym.
AHS plays Midland Legacy (21-5, 5-1) at 6 p.m. Friday in a district game at Eagle Gym. Legacy had a bye Tuesday.

Permian boys beat AHS
At Odessa, Odessa Permian made it a clean sweep, beating Abilene High 64-59 in the boys game.
Permian improved to 18-5 overall and 3-2 in district. AHS dropped to 8-15 overall and 1-4 in district.
The Eagles play Midland Legacy (14-10, 2-3) at 7:30 p.m. Friday in a district game at Eagle Gym. Legacy had a bye Tuesday.
