Odessa woman dies in Christmas Day collision

Dec. 27—The Texas Department of Public Safety detailed a 47-year-old Odessa woman died after she was involved in a two-vehicle collision 0n Christmas Day.

The reported fatal collision happened at 7:05 p.m. Sunday on Loop 338 about a mile and a half south of Odessa.

DPS stated Alondra Celesta Perez, 26, of Crane was driving a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta, while Felipe Quinones-Baeza, 51, of Odessa was driving a 2019 Kia Forte with passenger Aracelli Villa, 47, of Odessa.

Preliminary investigation showed the Jetta was traveling northbound on Loop 338, while the Forte was traveling southbound on Loop 338, the press release stated. For unknown reasons, the Jetta veered into the southbound lane and continued to travel on the wrong side of the road. The Forte attempted to evasive action but the vehicle collided with the Jetta.

Quinones-Baeza was wearing his seatbelt and was treated and released from Medical Center Hospital, the press release stated. Villa was transported to MCH where she was pronounced dead by medical staff. She was also wearing her seatbelt.

Perez wasn't injured and was she was also wearing her seatbelt.

The collision is still under investigation.
