Off-again, on-again player takes home second big win of the year on Kentucky Lottery

A random decision led to a $50,000 lottery prize for a Winchester resident recently.

The woman, who asked Kentucky Lottery officials to stay anonymous, won the prize after randomly deciding to buy a $50 Millionaire Club scratch-off ticket at Gasoline Alley in Winchester.

“I just thought I’d buy it, really,” the woman said, per a Monday release from the lottery.

The Millionaire Club game tasks players with matching their numbers to winning numbers down the ticket. It includes bonuses of 10, 50, 100 and 500 times multipliers.

According to Kentucky Lottery’s website, the chances of winning any prize off the game is about 1 in 2.98, with earnings ranging from $75 to the top $1-million prize. The $50,000 win is the second-highest prize in the game.

This is not the first time the woman, who said she only plays the lottery every now and then, has won. In January, she won $10,000 on another $50 scratch-off ticket.

Millionaire Club has had several recent big winners, including a $1 million win by a Florence man and a $50,000 win by a Mt. Sterling man.

The most recent winner said she is taking a modest approach to spending the prize money.

“We’re not gonna pull up in a fancy car,” she told lottery officials. “We’re just going to pay off some things.”

The retailer, Gasoline Alley, will get $500 for selling the ticket.
