Off-duty deputy, scoutmaster rescues scouts in flipped car on Georgia highway
An off-duty deputy’s quick thinking helped rescue a group of BSA Scouts from a flipped car on a Georgia interstate.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, a group of BSA Scouts was traveling through Georgia, returning to Jacksonville after a week of camping.
The tires of the car in front of Officer Laquidara-- who is also a scoutmaster -- blew out as the vehicle changed lanes, causing the driver to lose control and flip several times.

Laquidara, along with other motorists and bystanders, immediately jumped into action to help.
They came up with a plan to get the passengers, who were stuck inside the vehicle, out.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said that while they are not surprised by Laquidara’s actions, they are thankful that he was in the right place at the right time.
It’s unclear if any of the scouts were injured.
