Off-duty NYPD cop charged with assaulting ex-wife

An off-duty NYPD cop has been charged with assaulting his ex-wife at her Bronx home, police said Monday.

Robert Castillo, 51, was arrested about 1:30 p.m. Sunday for allegedly leaving his former wife with bumps and bruises after an altercation near Co-Op City.

After his ex filed a complaint, he was called into a precinct stationhouse and charged with assault and criminal mischief, officials.

Castillo has been arrested four other times while on the force, sources said. One of those busts was for violating order of protection, also involving his ex-wife, in 2017 in the Bronx.
