The Office star Ellie Kemper didn't think Erin and Andy were a good match
While not every couple from The Office can be as iconic as Jim and Pam, there's one pairing that one of the show's stars didn't even like.
Appearing on Brian Baumgartner's podcast An Oral History of The Office, Ellie Kemper, who played Erin, revealed that she wasn't too fond of her character's relationship with Andy.
"I never thought [Andy and Erin were a good match]," Ellie said. "I felt like Andy was a bit too childish.
"He wasn't ready to take care of Erin. Erin was ready to take care of Andy, but I felt that it was uneven in that respect."
Ellie would have been much happier to see Erin paired with Brian's character Kevin, something which Brian admitted to her he pitched.
"Do you know that I pitched Kevin and Erin getting together?" Brian asked her, to which she replied: "I think that would be a pretty reasonable relationship."
Brian continued: "I went up to the writers' room, and I said, 'If Kevin could mature just a little, there was something about their energy that I thought was right. Their energies matched in a weird way.'"
Ellie responded: "That actually makes perfect sense to me. I love that pitch."
Recently, there have been rumours that The Office could be the latest show to get the reboot treatment, after NBC's streaming service Peacock announced it'd have all nine seasons of the sitcom ready to stream next year.
Speaking about the rumours, the network's president of original content Bill McGoldrick said: "Because it does not launch until January, we have not talked specifically about The Office reboots for Peacock.
"We've talked about things we can do to support The Office once it gets to our service, but a reboot has not come up specifically for Peacock."
