The Office's American version finished almost seven years ago, but there are still things that haven't been wrapped up yet.

One of the biggest mysteries that fans are dying to know about regards the note that Jim wrote for Pam and put inside the teapot all the way back in the Secret Santa episode of the second season, 'Christmas Party'.

For years, that note went unread, until the ninth and final season dealt with the couple trying to overcome the strains on their marriage.

Pam actress Jenna Fischer talked about the note while on the Office Ladies podcast, and while she wouldn't be drawn on the exact wording, she said that the show's boss Greg Daniels told Jim actor John Krasinski to write a farewell note to her, not the character, seeing as the show was ending soon.

"I'm the only one who knows, and John knows," she said, adding: "I'm on camera, and I open up the note that John had given me, and I just start crying.

"I'll never say exactly what John wrote, but just know that it was perfect."

Fischer began the Office Ladies podcast last year with co-star Angela Kinsey, with each instalment breaking down an episode of the hit sitcom as the pair share lots of behind-the-scenes trivia and facts.

The Office Ladies podcast is available on Spotify, Stitcher and most podcast apps. All nine seasons of The Office are available to stream now on Amazon Prime Video.
