Officer involved in Friday shooting identified by Shreveport Police Department

At 2 p.m. Feb. 6, the Shreveport Police Department announced that Officer Alexander Tyler, 23, was placed on administrative leave following a fatal shooting that occurred on Feb. 3.

On Friday, Alonzo Sentell Bagley, 43, died at Ochsner LSU Health around 11:30 p.m. following a confrontation with Tyler.

Bagley was fatally shot during the confrontation that occurred at an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Fullerton Street.

SPD said that Tyler was hired by department in May of 2021.

The investigation into this incident has been turned over to the Louisiana State Police. A press conference will be held by LSP Monday afternoon.
