Her death became one of the main symbols of protest the United States over the summer as demonstrators spoke out against police brutality and racism.

The New York Times reported on Tuesday that two officers involved in the deadly raid, Detectives Myles Cosgrove and Joshua Jaynes, received notices of termination. That reporting came from statements prepared by the detectives' lawyers.

Louisville Police Department's interim chief, Yvette Gentry wrote in Jayne's pre-termination letter:

"Your actions have brought discredit upon yourself and the Department."
