Officer Wounded in Baton Rouge Shooting Watches From Hospital Window as Line of Police Salute Him

A group of police officers lined up outside of a hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to salute and support a fellow officer who was “critically injured” during a shooting on April 26, according to reports.

Local media reported that Lt Glenn Hutto Jr was killed and Cpl Derrick Maglone was injured during the shooting, which happened as they were investigating a homicide suspect. Hutto, who had been on the police force for 21 years, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The police department has rallied around Maglone to support his recovery. This video from April 30 shows a line of police saluting Maglone, who watches the display and returns the salute from his hospital window.

Justin Pomeroy, who filmed the video, said Baton Rouge police and officers from surrounding agencies joined in on the salute at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge.
