Area Crumbl Cookies franchise owner/operator Cole Pendleton confirmed Friday afternoon that a retail space lease has been signed for the nationally-popular Crumbl Cookies chain's first Clarksville location near Kohl's in the Hampton Plaza shopping center.

In fact, Pendleton said he likes Clarksville so much that he is personally moving from his current home in Bellevue, to the Queen City.

"We're officially coming to Clarksville, and we expect to open in the next two to three months pending the construction schedule," Pendleton said.

"We'll be right off Wilma Rudolph Boulevard by Kohl's, and we're very excited to be in Clarksville."

Pendleton said along with currently living in Bellevue, he has a Crumbl Cookies store in Smyrna. He said he's looking forward to moving to Clarksville to open the new location.

"I love Clarksville. I really believe it's the place to be in the next couple of years," he said. "That's why I'm moving there myself."

With more than 300 stores nationwide, Crumbl Cookies started, as the company website phrases it, "with one big dream, two crazy cousins, and the perfect combination of flour, sugar, and chocolate chips."

Crumbl was co-founded by Jason McGowan (CEO) and Sawyer Hemsley (COO). They teamed up and dove head-first into the world of baking.

"After thousands of dollars in wasted dough, recipes that did not live up to their expectations, and cookies that are just plain embarrassing to them today, the two cousins decided to take their 'perfect cookie quest' to the people."

They gathered feedback and tested recipes — a practice that is still part of the Crumbl process — until they created what is the self-proclaimed "world’s best chocolate chip cookie."

The duo and their family opened Crumbl’s first store in Logan, Utah, in 2017.

They place emphasis on Crumbl customers being able to see their cookies being mixed, balled, baked and dressed in real-time.

As Crumbl continued to grow, so did their flavor offerings. Crumbl’s award-winning milk chocolate chip cookie has always been on the menu, and the chilled pink sugar cookie became a semi-permanent menu item soon after.

Crumbl then introduced its concept of a rotating menu. Its iconic four-flavor weekly rotation was officially established in December 2018. Since then, new flavors are added frequently, often weekly, in addition to current recipes being updated and improved, the company says.
