Twitter user and football commentator BuckarooBanzai reported the strange goings on at the Uzhhorod stadium in western Ukraine on Twitter on Aug 23.

“The Setanta team, which had the rights to all the games, arrived in Uzhhorod, but they are leaving...,” the message says. “An hour before the game, they refused to broadcast, only the car of the 1 + 1 group remained!”

The Zorya-Vorskla game was scheduled to be shown live on the Setanta Sports program, but the game, which began at 15:00, was instead broadcast by 2+2 and the Football Hub YouTube channel.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Premier League announced the creation of a single telepool, and that the international broadcaster Setanta Sports had become the official broadcaster. The contract with Setanta Sports is for three seasons, and the deal amounted to $16.2 million.

Despite this, 1+1 media group subsequently announced that they would broadcast UPL matches on their channels for free.
