Official Yellowstone Spokesperson Kevin Costner Endorses Liz Cheney

Late Monday afternoon, we saw something on Twitter that caught our eye. Rep. Liz Cheney, who is currently in the midst of a heated reelection campaign to maintain her spot as the U.S. representative for Wyoming's congressional district, just earned a new endorsement. The congresswoman posted a photo of Yellowstone star Kevin Costner in front of a mighty-looking ranch wearing a shirt that reads, "I'M FOR LIZ CHENEY." The caption on Twitter?"Real men put country over party." Costner's endorsement is bound to elicit some kind of reaction from Yellowstoners on either side of the line, considering Cheney's uber-conservative views, and of course, her support for Donald Trump's first (and second!) impeachments.
If you're curious about Costner's historical political views, the man considers himself an independent, per a 2020 interview with The Daily Beast. "I’m an independent," Costner said at the time. "I vote for who I think has the best interests of the country and how we sit in the world. If someone is lying to their base, lying to the general public, then they’re not serving any purpose—other than for themselves." Costner also denounced both parties, saying, "The Democratic Party doesn’t represent anything that I think, and neither does the Republican Party right now—at all."
Costner's most vocal endorsement, before Cheney, was Pete Buttigieg during his 2020 presidential campaign. So there you have it—like it or not, Costner isn't shy about letting his fans know about his vote. "What you have to try to lean on is that every four years we get to decide whether we’re going in the right direction or we’re not," Costner said elsewhere in The Daily Beast interview. "And we now, because of the way the country is set up–which is beautiful—we have that opportunity. And anyone who would interfere with that process in a deliberate way to have an outcome—that’s criminal. And it spits on 200 years of freedom."
