SportsPulse: NorthJersey.com's Chris Iseman breaks down some of the recent success enjoyed by the New York Knicks and discusses the realistic chances of them being a playoff contender.
CHRIS ISEMAN: The New York Knicks are our winning basketball team 35 games into the season. And they own sole possession of fourth place in the Eastern Conference. I'm Chris Iseman from NorthJersey.com. And the Knicks have surpassed plenty of expectations in Tom Thibodeau's first season as head coach.
They're 18 and 17 after beating the Detroit Pistons 109-90 Sunday night in Detroit. They're playing with a great defense. They're second in the NBA in defensive rating behind only the Los Angeles Lakers. And they're doing it with Julius Randle, who's having a fantastic season. He's an All-Star for a reason, averaging 23.4 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 5.9 assists.
They've also got some big contributions at times from Immanuel Quickley, a rookie point guard out of Kentucky. The addition of Derrick Rose has been big at giving them a reliable veteran point guard. He's played well since coming over from the Pistons.
We'll see what happens and what the Knicks can do now going forward. They're schedule is gonna get tougher, especially in the second half of the season. But they're certainly playing well enough defensively to keep them in good standing in the Eastern Conference. I'm Chris Iseman from NorthJersey.com.
