It's officially sweet corn season. Here's where you can buy it throughout the Des Moines metro
Corn-on-the-cob season is finally upon us.
For the first time since 2019, the sweet corn harvest for several central Iowa farmers was delayed until after the Fourth of July holiday due to an unusually cold spring. But the time has finally come and Iowa sweet corn is hitting farm stands and grocery store aisles.

Clear your plates and make some room for sweet corn:
Deardorff Sweet Corn
Deardorff Sweet Corn stand in Adel is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Expect to pay around $8 for a dozen ears. Deardorff Sweet Corn is also available in Cash Saver, Fareway, Hometown Foods, Hy-Vee and Price Chopper stores.

Ankeny: Mercy North, 800 E. First St.
Johnston: Beside the Grinnell State Bank, 5601 Merle Hay Road

Hilltop Farms
Hilltop Farms is open Monday to Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sweet corn is priced at $7 a dozen.
The corn truck is open Monday through Saturday from around 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Waukee: VisionBank parking lot, 45 N. Warrior Lane. Sweet corn is $7.50 a dozen
Dallas Center: Hilltop Farms, 22018 T Ave. Sweet corn is $8 a dozen.
Grimes Sweet Corn
Grimes Sweet Corn farm stands are open selling sweet corn for $9 a dozen, accepting cash and check only.

Penick's Sweet Corn Stand
Penick's Sweet Corn Stand is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week. Sweet corn is $8 for a baker's dozen. Penick's also runs a stand at the Downtown Des Moines Farmer's Market every Saturday morning.
Indianola: In front of the Busy Bee Garden Center, 5901 Hwy 65-69
Hy-Vee and Fareway stores

Fresh Thyme Market
This Midwest grocery chain sells sweet corn in the summer months through September or October. Fresh Thyme's West Des Moines location is open every day from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Depending on the week, customers can get two for $1.
