Officials address rumors over possible Plumas Lake hot tub death

Dec. 15—Law enforcement officials on Friday provided details regarding the October death of a woman which sparked rumors among some about the sordid details that led to her passing in the suburban community of Plumas Lake in Yuba County.

According to Katy Goodson, a public information officer with the Yuba County Sheriff's Office, a call to 911 requesting medical aid in the 1100 block of Bronco Drive in Plumas Lake was received just after midnight on Oct. 31.

Deputies and emergency personnel who arrived at the scene located a woman "outside, unconscious and not breathing," Goodson told the Appeal. That woman was identified as 26-year-old Kelsie Campbell of Plumas Lake.

According to Goodson, Campbell "had just been pulled out" of a nearby hot tub prior to the arrival of emergency personnel. Life-saving measures were taken, but Campbell was declared deceased, Goodson said.

"Detectives took over the case and conducted a thorough investigation to include toxicology reports of the deceased," Goodson said in an email to the Appeal.

Goodson said with the information currently available and after a review of the toxicology report, "there is no suspicion of foul play." Goodson said the official cause of Campbell's death is "pending due to standard procedural steps taken in all coroners' cases."
