Identity of man found dead in house fire a mystery; public asked to help

The remains of an unidentified person were found in an abandoned home Sunday morning in the Rock Springs area.

The Anderson County Coroner's Office has not been able to identify the body and is asking for tips about who may have been staying there.

The body is likely a male and was staying in or around the abandoned structure at State 413 near McCoy Crossing, according to a statement from the Coroner's Office.

The fire was discovered around 3:30 a.m. and a body was found in the process of the firefighting.

Fire inspectors believe the fire could have been used to stay warm, there was no electricity in the building, according to the Coroner's Office.
