Officials identify Evansville teenager who was shot and killed

EVANSVILLE – A teenager who was shot and killed on the city's South Side Saturday night has been identified by the Vanderburgh County coroner's office.

Damarion Stanley, 15, died at Deaconess Hospital after police found him in the 700 block of Monroe Avenue around 10:40 p.m. He reportedly flagged down officers for help.

"Officers rendered first aid until AMR arrived to take over and transport the victim to the hospital," Evansville police spokeswoman Sgt. Anna Gray said Gray wrote in a news release on Sunday. "Unfortunately, the victim did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital."

Stanley's autopsy was scheduled for Monday, Chief Deputy Coroner David Anson said.

Stanley was one of two teenagers who were shot in the same incident Saturday night, Gray said. A 17-year-old, who hasn't been publicly identified, suffered a "graze" wound to his head. Dispatchers received a 911 call about the second victim when he was dropped off at an area hospital.

No arrests had been made as of Monday morning.

Gray described the suspects as "three Black males wearing all black and latex gloves." Anyone with information on the shootings can contact the Adult Investigation Unit at 812-436-7979.
