Officials introduce new Cloquet Public Library director

Jun. 9—CLOQUET — Cloquet City Council's meeting Tuesday, June 7, saw the introduction of the new Cloquet Public Library Director Courtney Dietsche.

Dietsche started at the library in May 2020 as an adult services librarian before transitioning to director when the previous director, Beth Sorenson, left the position.

"It has been getting used to what normal looks like at the library," she said.

Her previous experience also includes being a library director in Iron River, Wisconsin, and as a teacher at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

"I am very excited to have this position and make more connections in Cloquet," she said.

Dietsche said her job now includes making people aware of the expanded space and meeting rooms at the library and getting the word out about the programs that are available.

"We have a ton of programming going on this summer," she said. "We are really coming back in full force."

City administrator Tim Peterson said while he was sad to see the previous director leave, Dietsche has been a great addition.

"I think a lot of the staff that are up there do a fantastic job," he said. "We look forward to continuing the partnership with the library."
