Officials investigate Oak Run deaths as double homicide

After two men were found shot to death in Oak Run on Monday, the Shasta County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident as a double homicide.

Sheriff's deputies and California Highway Patrol officers were called to Zig Zag Lane in Oak Run shortly after 4:30 p.m.

Officers found two men shot to death and lying next to two parked vehicles, according to the sheriff's office.

The two men were identified as Meba Solomon Getachew, 32, from Ashland, Oregon, and Gunnar Eliot Yeager, 33, of Medford, Oregon, sheriff's officials said.

Officials on Tuesday did not indicate anyone had been arrested in the case and said no further information about motive or "other investigative information" will be released.

"At this time, there is no indication the general public’s safety is at risk. Detectives are actively conducting follow up to determine the person or persons responsible," a sheriff's office press release said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the sheriff's office's Major Crimes Unit at 530-245-6135 or by email MCU@co.shasta.ca.us.
