Officials locate Bee County inmate who ran away from jail after dumping trash

The Bee County Jail inmate who ran from the facility while dumping trash last Saturday has been found.

Steven Servantes, 40, was serving as a trustee at the jail before he ran away while dumping trash with an escort. He was charged with aggravated assault causing bodily injury and a parole violation warrant.

Bee County officials said Servantes was apprehended by U.S. Marshals at the Progreso border crossing around noon on Friday. The Bee County Sheriff's Office said he was attempting to enter Mexico.

The sheriff's office said the incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information should call the sheriff's office at 361-362-3221.
