Missing Rib Mountain teen located safe in Winnebago County

RIB MOUNTAIN − A missing 15-year-old Rib Mountain girl has been found safe.

The Marathon County Sheriff's Office shared on its Facebook page Wednesday night that the girl had been "located in Winnebago County and is safe."

The department thanked the public and its law enforcement partners for help in finding the teen, and said no further information would be provided.

The teen had been missing since Tuesday afternoon and was last seen leaving John Muir Middle School in Wausau on foot at around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release. She was considered an at-risk juvenile because of the dangerously cold temperatures.
