President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that officials with military experience will be appointed in a number of border and frontline regions.

Quote: "We are strengthening our management positions. In a number of regions, especially border and frontline regions, we are appointing officials with military experience.

Those who can apply themselves most effectively in the protection against the currently existing threats. I will inform [the citizens – ed.] on each such decision.

We will combine the experience gained by our people in the defence of Ukraine, military  experience, with specific managerial work in positions in local and central government."

Details: Zelenskyy also honoured the fighters of the 54th and 93rd Mechanised Brigades, the 15th Battalion of the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade.

The President recalled that he held a meeting of the the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff on 6 February, where they discussed the situation in Bakhmut and the provision of ammunition to the soldiers. In addition, the head of intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, reported on the plans of the occupiers.

He also noted the formation of the "Offensive Guard" in the Ministry of Internal Affairs: "The beginning is strong. There will be a continuation. I thank everyone who showed interest in the formation of brigades. Good motivation plus good preparation equals the possibility of our defense and security forces to get back Ukraine's own [territories – ed.]."

  • At the meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff on 6 February, the participants considered candidates for the positions of heads of Oblast Military Administrations in Kyiv, Kherson, Sumy, Zaporizhia and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts.
