A search for a 39-year-old man whose vehicle was found Jan. 25 at the Pink Beds Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway ended with good news on Jan. 26, as he was found alive.

According to a news release from the Transylvania County Sheriff's Office, Osha Ray Berry of Pooler, Georgia, was located at approximately 1:21 p.m. Jan. 26 by search crews in a remote area in close proximity to the Frying Pan Fire Tower. He was removed from the woods and was reported to be in stable condition and was being treated for "exposure-related injuries."

He was transported by Transylvania County EMS to Transylvania Regional Hospital for further evaluation, the Sheriff's Office said.

According to a previous news release from the Transylvania County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 2:30 p.m. Jan. 25, the Sheriff’s Office received a request for canine tracking assistance on the Blue Ridge Parkway from Blue Ridge Parkway Law Enforcement after the vehicle of Berry was found.

A Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office Canine Deputy responded. Berry’s vehicle was located at the Pink Bed’s Overlook behind a closed and lock gate that it appears "Mr. Berry’s vehicle drove through," the release said. This was on a section of the Parkway that had been closed due to winter weather conditions.

The search continued throughout the day on Jan. 25 and also on Jan. 26, and the Sheriff's Office received assistance from the following agencies: Transylvania County Rescue Squad, Transylvania County Emergency Management, National Park Service Law Enforcement, Henderson County Rescue Squad, Brevard Fire Department, Connestee Fire and Rescue, Cedar Mountain Fire and Rescue, Rosman Fire and Rescue, Lake Toxaway Fire and Rescue, North Transylvania Fire and Rescue, Little River Fire Department, Haywood County Emergency Management, Haywood County Sheriff's Office, Transylvania County EMS, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg.

The Transylvania County Sheriff's Office said currently no foul play is suspected.

According to the Jan. 26 news release, Transylvania County Sheriff Chuck Owenby, the Transylvania County Sheriff's Office staff and the National Park Service thanked all the involved agencies with their assistance in "bringing this situation to a successful resolution."
