Santa, carolers, games, food, local shopping and more will be offered during Ogden’s annual Christmas on Main holiday event Saturday, Dec. 4. This year’s theme is “Candy Cane Lane.” The group Ogden Legacy sponsors it.

Joy Pals is helping coordinate the festivities. She said every activity being offered, with the exception of the one mile run, is free of charge.

“We like to provide something for people and families of all ages to enjoy,” she said.

Things kick off at 9 a.m. at Seven Oaks Recreation in Boone. Enjoy breakfast with Santa in front of the fireplace. Milk and donuts will be provided, as well as crafts for kids, courtesy the Westside Hustlers 4H Club.

Downtown shopping goes throughout the day in Ogden:

  • Everlasting Flowers & Gifts from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Honeynut Home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

  • The New Moon Mercantile from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Frozen Noes & Toes Run (one mile) kicks off at 3:30 p.m. at city hall and will make its way to Main Street with planned stops along the route. Run solo or as a team. Arrive 15 minutes early with your $10 entry fee. Prizes will be awarded, including one for Best Dressed. Register here.

  • Water’s Edge – The Well is the place to be for coffee and dessert.

Tree-lighting ceremony and carriage rides

Make your way downtown for the tree lighting ceremony at 5 p.m., complete with Christmas carolers. The tree is located near the Lucky Pig. Immediately following the tree lighting will be the opening of Santa’s Village. Hang out with the big guy (and get your picture taken with him), plus enjoy food and reindeer games from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the grassy space between People’s Bank and DAGS.

Food vendors participating in Christmas on Main will include Cuban Street Cafe, Lucky Pig, Cooks Snack Shack and The Well.

Also going on from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. will be carriage rides (horse drawn hay rack rides).

Volunteers are needed for a Meals From the Heartland packaging event, beginning at 1 p.m. in the Ogden High School cafeteria, going until 3 p.m. Sophomore Bella Bryan is spearheading the event.

“I helped my sister in 2019 with a similar event and wanted to make this an annual event after she graduated,” Bryan said. “Last year did not allow for that with COVID. Thanks to VisionBank’s generous sponsorship, I am able to offer this event to the community this year.”

Please enter the building through the athletic entrance. She noted that volunteers should be age 9 or older and should be able to work the entire two-hour shift. Floaters will be available to step in to allow for breaks and chairs will be available.

More about Bryan: “As an officer of the Westside Hustlers 4H Club and a member of the Ogden FFA Chapter, giving back is very important to me. In conjunction with the Meals from the Heartland event, I am holding a collection for the Ogden Food Pantry.”

Items needed include: paper products (toilet paper, paper towels, etc.), cleaning supplies and personal hygiene items (feminine products, soap, toothpaste, shampoo, body lotion, etc.)
