OgunquitFest 2023: Halloween festivities, balloon rides, High Heel Dash and more

OGUNQUIT, Maine — OgunquitFest, the annual celebration of the harvest and Halloween season, returns for its 20th year with a weekend full of fun and spooky events.

From trick-or-treating and a craft fair to a dog costume parade and a high heel dash, there is something for everyone to enjoy in downtown Ogunquit.

Festivities kick off on Friday night, Oct. 20, with trick-or-treating from 5 to 7 p.m., and run through Sunday afternoon, Oct. 22. OgunquitFest is put on by the Ogunquit Chamber of Commerce.

OgunquitFest Artisan Craft Fair and Classic Car Show at Main Beach

Visitors and residents will have a wide variety of happenings from which to choose on Saturday. Two signature events draw guests back year after year, the OgunquitFest Artisan Craft Fair and Classic Car Show.

The Artisan Craft Fair features live music, food trucks, and more than 60 crafters displaying their wares in two adjacent locations, Dorothea Jacobs Grant Common and the Ogunquit Fire Station, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Classic Car Show at Main Beach, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., features more than 100 cars, live music, and people’s choice awards, concluding with a parade of cars down Beach Street out to Route 1.

Additional traditional programs back in the OgunquitFest line-up for Saturday include Perkins Cove Halloween festivities, with a costume contest and parade, trick or treating, rock painting and face painting from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

High Heel Dash around Perkins Cove

On Sunday, the big event is the iconic High Heel Dash to benefit the Frannie Peabody Center. Brave souls race around Perkins Cove in high heels, and those heels must be at least two inches high. Prizes are awarded for Best Time, Highest Heel and Most Outrageous Costume. Registration begins at 2:30 p.m. with the Dash setting off at 3 p.m.

Hot air balloon rides, craft fair and more

Other Sunday options include free hot air balloon rides, courtesy of RE/MAX, from 8 to 10 a.m. at Agamenticus Field, and the Artisan Craft Fair at Dorothea Jacobs Grant Common and the Ogunquit Fire Station from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Area businesses are also celebrating the weekend with live theatre, live music, and more.
