‘Oh My God!’: Dashcam captures out-of-control truck crash into gas pumps
LA PLATA, N.M. (WAVY) – A truck slammed into a gas station in La Plata, New Mexico Sunday evening, and the frightening crash was captured on another driver’s dashcam.
The person who owns the video goes by @extrezionx on TikTok. The video shows him pulling into the La Plata Speedway gas station on NM Highway 170, when a speeding truck suddenly runs off the road and crashes into a gas pump, just feet away from him. The collision caused an explosion and brought down the entire canopy. The truck keeps going until it crashes into a metal fence.
His dashcam was recording and captured the dramatic crash. You can here him yelling “Oh My God” in response.
“I gave a statement to the local sheriff, and they needed footage for documentation,” he said.
He added that the sheriff’s office followed up with him to let him know the woman in the truck experienced a seizure before the crash and that she only has minor injuries.
According to the sheriff’s office, the driver had no recollection of it happening.
“We are thankful that there were no injuries sustained as a result of the incident, and the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office reminds individuals with medical conditions to adhere to prescribed treatments and exercise caution when operating motor vehicles,” the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office said in an official release about the incident.
@extrezionx said he was on a road trip from Seattle to Mississippi when the incident occurred.
