Ohio Confirms 2,300 New Coronavirus Cases, 66 Deaths

COLUMBUS, OH — Ohio's rejuvenated surge of COVID-19 cases and deaths continued Wednesday.

More than 60 Ohioans died from COVID-19 complications in the past 24 hours, according to the Ohio Department of Health. That's the second most COVID-19-related deaths recorded in Ohio in a 24-hour period.

Health officials also confirmed 2,366 new COVID-19 cases among Ohioans. That breaks a previous record set last week for most cases confirmed in a single day.

Gov. Mike DeWine and health officials have spent previous weeks urging Ohioans to wear masks and maintain six-feet distance from other people. In the past two weeks, Ohio has seen increasing hospitalization rates and rising averages for new COVID-19 cases and deaths.

On Tuesday, Ohio saw more than 200 residents enter hospitals for COVID-19 care.
