Ohio customers impacted in Humana privacy incident

(WJW) – There’s been a privacy incident at American health insurance company Humana.

The company released a notice about the event Monday afternoon.

It affects people in Ohio and 8 other states, according to a press release.

Humana says it “became aware that Explanation of Payment documents intended for providers were sent to the incorrect address due to a system programming error” on December 8, 2023.

The information included: First and last name, Humana ID number, Provider name, Dates of Service, and Claim Payment Information.

Humana does not say where the documents were accidentally sent.

According to the statement, Humana “immediately identified the cause of the error and corrected it,” and says tests confirm its system is “operating correctly.”

Humana says there are no reports of the information being misused.

The privacy incident impacts people additionally in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
