Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Mulling Another GOP Presidential Run, Inks With UTA

UTA has signed now former Ohio Gov. John Kasich, the state’s two-term Republican governor who ran for president in 2000 and in 2016 in the election won by Donald Trump. The move comes as the former U.S. congressman, also a bestselling author, has been sending smoke signals about a second GOP presidential candidacy; his run as governor ended today thanks to term limits.

The pact unveiled Monday means UTA will represent Kasich across its Speakers, News and Broadcast, Media Rights divisions and more. He joins the agency’s news and broadcast roster that already includes CNN’s Jim Acosta, Anderson Cooper, Don Lemon, Dana Bash and Jake Tapper; Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade; NBC’s Chuck Todd, CBS’ Norah O’Donnell, and ABC’s David Muir and Meghan McCain. It also reps speakers from Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Ron Paul to Jeffrey Toobin and Terry Crews.

Kasich has been a periodic contributor across the cable news landscape since his 2016 run, when he earned 154 delegates but took just one primary — his home state. Unlike his rival candidates, he never endorsed Trump after exiting the race, leaving him on a shortlist for a possible 2020 run.

For now, UTA will help him “navigate the next phase of his career in civic engagement,” it said today. “I’m excited to work with UTA to keep my voice active across the world and share my experiences and observations to help improve the lives of others,” he said in a press release.

Kasich hosted Heartland With John Kasich on Fox News for seven years after starting his career as an investment banker.

“It is an incredible honor to represent one of the nation’s most unifying and inspiring political voices,” UTA co-president Jay Sures said. “We’re thrilled to work with Governor Kasich as he looks to the future by bringing his unique experience, wisdom and perspective to an even wider array of audiences.”
