Ohio High School Athletic Association releases softball postseason tournament brackets
The Ohio High School Athletic Association released its 2022 statewide softball tournament brackets on Sunday.
Here's a look at where area teams will be headed for tournament play.
DIVISION I TOLEDO DISTRICT
Top seeds in bracket: 2. Springfield; 3. Whitmer
Local in bracket: 7. Ashland
What to watch for: Ashland opens the tourney at home against No. 13 Fremont Ross in a sectional final at 5 p.m. May 11.
District: Semifinals are May 17 and final is May 19. Both will be held at the University of Toledo.
DIVISION III NEW RIEGEL DISTRICT
Top seeds in bracket: 1. Margaretta; 2. Edison; 3. Colonel Crawford; 4. Upper Sandusky
Local in bracket: No. 5 Crestview
What to watch for: Crestview begins the tourney at home against No. 7 Huron in a sectional semifinal at 5 p.m. May 10. With a win, the Cougars will travel to Upper Sandusky for a sectional final at 5 p.m. May 13.
District: Semifinals are May 18 and final is May 21. Both will be held at New Riegel High School.

DIVISION III WELLINGTON DISTRICT
Top seeds in bracket: 2. Northwestern; 3. Waynedale; 4. Elyria Catholic
What to watch for: Northwestern starts the tournament at home against the winner of No. 6 Independence-No. 9 Wellington in a sectional final at 5 p.m. May 12.
District: Semifinals are May 17 and final is May 19. Both will be held at Wellington Community Park.
DIVISION III CRESTON DISTRICT
Top seeds in bracket: 1. Tuslaw
Locals in bracket: No. 10 Black River; No. 11 Mapleton
What to watch for: Black River hosts the winner of No. 13 Fairless-No. 17 Smithville in a sectional final at 5 p.m. May 12. Mapleton begins the tournament against the winner of No. 5 Norwayne-No. 22 Cleveland Campus International at 5 p.m. May 12 at a location to be determined.
District: Semifinals are May 17 and final is May 19. Both will be held at Norwayne High School.

DIVISION IV AKRON DISTRICT
Top seeds in bracket: 1. Hillsdale; 2. Mogadore; 3. Loudonville; 4. Cuyahoga Heights
What to watch for: Hillsdale opens the tournament at home against the winner of No. 11 Our Lady of the Elms-No. 12 Open Door Christian in a sectional final at 5 p.m. May 11. Loudonville hosts the winner of No. 5 Canton Central Catholic-No. 8 Dalton in a sectional final at 5 p.m. May 11.
District: Semifinals are May 16 and final is May 18. Both will be held at Firestone Stadium.
All-around player: South Central's Sam Seidel can do it all on the baseball diamond
DIVISION IV GALION DISTRICT
Top seeds in bracket: 1. Mohawk; 2. South Central; 3. Monroeville; 4. Plymouth
Local in bracket: 6. New London
What to watch for: South Central begins the tournament at home against the winner of No. 7 Lucas-No. 8 Vanlue in a sectional final at 5 p.m. May 12. New London hosts No. 12 Mansfield Christian in a sectional semifinal at 5 p.m. May 9. With a win, the Wildcats will travel to Monroeville for a sectional final at 5 p.m. May 12.
District: Semifinals are May 17 and final is May 19. Both will be held at Galion High School.
