COLUMBUS − The Ohio House of Representatives on Wednesday passed House Bill 81, legislation that honors former Carroll County Sheriff Dale R. Williams, announced state Reps. Don Jones (R-Freeport) and Monica Robb Blasdel (R-Columbiana County).

The legislation designates a portion of State Route 39 between Carrollton and Dellroy as Sheriff Dale R. Williams Memorial Highway. Williams began his career in law enforcement in 1969 as a dispatcher. After working as a full-time road deputy, he moved to the Carrollton Police Department and was elected sheriff in 2004, where he built a law enforcement department focused on protecting its community for 18 years. He died in September.

House Bill 81 now moves to the Ohio Senate for consideration.
