Ohio residents who fell victim to the unemployment-related ID theft are now eligible for one year of free credit monitoring.

The monitoring is being provided by Ohio Department of Job & Family Services through a contracted service. Individuals who had reported the fraudulent activity will be contacted by the IDX Company, who ODJFS contracted with to provide the credit monitoring services.

Victims will receive a year of free identity theft monitoring, restoration and insurance benefits.

Criminals used large-scale data breaches to file claims using individual’s personal information. This fraudulent activity cost Ohio $496 million dollars in overpayments. ODJFS has since made significant enhancements to the system to detect any security and fraud issues.

To report fraudulent activity or for information: 833-658-0394; unemployment.ohio.gov.
